In 2007, Tatiana Jama and Lara Rouyres met in Paris for the first time while waiting in line at a nightclub. What did they do in the club? Not dance. Tatiana and Lara spent the night talking about entrepreneurship and their common dream of becoming their own bosses. They instantly became friends.
As the sun rose, they snapped back to reality. Lawyers by trade, they went back to work as usual, and frankly, work wasn’t thrilling. Day by day, they were realizing that being a lawyer wasn’t quite like Ally McBeal on TV.
So, the two would regularly meet for wine and brainstorming business ideas. One day, it hit them (the idea, not the wine). Like most of us, they realized they take a lot of pictures of things and products they want to remember. Afterwards, either we manually search for the product online *annoying*, or we forget about it *useless*. What if there was a way to find that product online automatically, just from the picture?
In 2014, Tatiana and Lara co-founded Selectionnist and developed an image recognition technology. They also started developing chatbots as a way for brands to offer a more conversational shopping experience. In 2017, they launched the world’s first image recognition chatbot on Messenger. Just send the bot a picture and it will find the product for you! You guessed it, shoppers and major brands are loving it. Speaking of 2017, Tatiana and Lara are also celebrating 10 years as friends and business partners!

COFOUNDING WITH A FRIEND?
The dream of many! It can become a reality, too. Like any solid relationship, it requires good timing and a good match. As a rule of thumb, keeping an open mind, clarifying responsibilities, and establishing great trust and communication are a solid start.
